Jojoba Oil

Did you know that jojoba oil is actually not an oil, but a liquid wax? If you want to learn more about this ingredient and what it can do for your skin – we have the answers.

Great Benefits for Every Skin Type

Jojoba (pronounced ho-ho-ba) oil has so much to offer when it comes to skincare while also being gentle and usually very well tolerated. And here’s the kicker: It is suitable for all skin types! A major advantage in skincare products is its moisturizing effect. In comparison to other oils, it infuses the skin with intense moisture without weighing it down or leaving an unpleasant, greasy feel. On the contrary, it can even help to regulate the production of sebum in the sebaceous glands. It quickly absorbs into the skin and leaves it feeling soft and supple. This makes jojoba oil an ideal choice for rough and dry skin or for combating fine lines caused by dryness. It also improves elasticity and promotes skin regeneration. But that’s not even all when we’re talking anti-aging, because jojoba oil contains vitamin E, the most powerful radical-scavenging antioxidant, which protects the skin from oxidative stress and thus helps to prevent premature skin aging. The seeds of the jojoba shrub are also known for their antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Jojoba oil is a non-comedogenic ingredient, which means it won’t clog your pores. For these reasons, you can also find jojoba oil in products for acne and blemish-prone skin.

Did you know?

Jojoba oil is obtained from the seeds of the Jojoba plant (Simmondsia chinensis), which is native to the desert regions of Mexico, California and Arizona and can grow up to 3 meters high. The jojoba shrub is an excellent survivor, as the evergreen plant needs to constantly adapt to extreme temperature fluctuations (from 0 to 45°C). Its roots are over 4 meters long and anchored deep in the soil, to constantly supply the plant with moisture and keep it from drying out. The hairy leaves are another defense against moisture loss, because they prevent excessive evaporation of liquid. This special protective mechanism allows the jojoba shrub to live for up to 200 years.

Strictly speaking, jojoba oil is not an oil, but a wax. High-quality products contain cold-pressed jojoba oil, which is extracted very gently. It contains a high amount of vitamins A, E and important omega-9 fatty acids. The versatile, positive properties of the oil have been used for centuries by the indigenous peoples of North America to treat pain, help with stomach problems and also for skin and hair care.

Versatile uses

Jojoba oil provides a wide range of skincare benefits. It moisturizes dry areas, but doesn’t feel greasy, which makes it excellent for all skin types, even oily skin. Dab a few drops onto the lips to make chapped lips soft again. The oil is also great for body care and treating cracked feet. Tip: Always apply the product to damp skin. This makes it easier to spread.

Dry hair and dry hair ends? Jojoba oil will give your hair care an upgrade. You can apply it to the lengths of your hair as an overnight treatment or add an additional boost to damp hair after washing.

Flaky, dry scalp? Massage the oil into your scalp and, ideally, leave it on overnight. This will help to soothe itching and dry patches.

Products with jojoba oil

It doesn’t have to be just pure oil. Skincare products that combine jojoba oil with other ingredients make it possible to respond even more specifically to different skin needs.

In anti-aging moisturizers, jojoba oil provides intense moisture, nourishes the skin and improves skin elasticity. Since the oil is so non-greasy and fast-absorbing, it can be used for more lightweight formulas, like our HYALURONIC UREA Anti-Aging Hydrating Cream Light, but also for rich moisturizers for very dry skin, like our Q10 Cream.

Thanks to its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, jojoba oil is even used in products for skin prone to redness and couperose, like for example our REDNESS CONTROL Anti-Redness Mask. This mask nourishes the skin, helps to prevent irritation and strengthens the capillaries.

As we all know, vitamin E is an extremely effective radical scavenger that protects against oxidative stress and premature skin aging. In combination with jojoba oil, we have twice the power for our smoothing and vitalizing Q10 Serum.

Jojoba and other oils can be combined to combat dry skin very effectively. Our #stressless Ampoules contain a valuable mix of nourishing oils that prevent the skin from drying out and leave it with a natural glow.

Our Ginger – Sea Salt Body Scrub with jojoba oil, almond oil, sunflower and peach kernel oil is a quick 2-in-1 skin booster. It exfoliates dead skin cells, promotes skin regeneration, boosts blood flow and infuses the skin with moisture – for supple, soft skin.
