The Natural Building Blocks of Plant Cells

Cellulose is the basic structural component of plant cell walls, which makes it the most abundant of all naturally occurring organic compounds and also the most common polysaccharide.

In 1838 cellulose was discovered by the French chemist Anselme Payen, who isolated it from plant matter and determined its chemical formula.

Cellulose is used in cosmetic products to provide stability and texture in a natural way. It is gentle on the skin and also has moisture-binding properties.
