Alpha-Linolenic Acid

Alpha linolenic acid skin benefits

Effective Treatment for Hyperpigmentation

ALA, Linolenic acid

Alpha-linolenic acid is an essential omega-3 fatty acid (not to be confused with linoleic acid, which is an omega-6 fatty acid). It is present in many oils, like for example chia oil, linseed oil and hemp seed oil.

In skincare, alpha-linolenic acid is used to treat hyperpigmentation and reduce inflammation.

Alpha-linolenic acid is known to inhibit melanin production and reduce hyperpigmentation. Its anti-inflammatory properties are beneficial for blemish-prone skin as well - and they help to further improve hyperpigmentation, since pigmentation disorders can be caused by the release of inflammatory cells.
