Healing Power from the Kingdom of Plants

Allantoin is a natural substance found, for example, in comfrey (symphytum officinale), maple, wheat germ, and black salsify.

In the year 1800 allantoin was discovered by Buniva and Louis-Nicolas Vauquelin in the allantoic fluid of cows. This is also where its name stems from. However, it was already used by Hildegard von Bingen at the beginning of the 12th century for wound healing and bone fractures. Since then, allantoin has been found in many other plants.

Allantoin supports healing processes and soothes, softens and smoothes the skin. It also has a stimulating effect on cell division.
